Candle Burning Instructions
The Golden Rules of Soy Candles
- Set the Memory: During the first burn, keep the candle lit for 2-3 hours (or until the melted wax reaches the very edge of the container) to prevent "tunneling".
- Trim the Wick: Always trim the wick to 0.6cm (or 1/4 inch) before each lighting to prevent smoking and soot.
- The 4-Hour Limit: Never burn your soy candle for more than 4 hours at a time to avoid overheating the glass and excess carbon build-up.
- Avoid Drafts: Keep burning candles away from ceiling fans, vents, and open windows to ensure an even burn.Natura Soylights +3
How to Fix a Tunneling Candle
If your candle has already started tunneling (burning only down the center), you can try to reset it.
- Wrap a piece of aluminum foil around the top rim of the candle, creating a slight "tent" over the top.
- Leave a small opening in the center above the wick.
- Light the candle and let it burn for 1-2 hours. The trapped heat will melt the unmelted wax along the edges.
Extinguishing and Storing
- Do Not Blow: Blowing on a soy candle can cause the wick to curl and produce unwanted smoke. Use a Candle Snuffer or a wick dipper to extinguish the flame gently.
- Keep it Covered: When the candle has completely cooled and solidified, always place the lid back on. This protects the natural wax from dust and preserves the fragrance.
